ProWrap: Week of January 22, 2017
ProWrap consists of quick reviews of the television shows we don’t cover with full reviews or podcast episodes during the week.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - S4E11 - “Wake Up” | Tuesdays at 10pm | ABC
S.H.I.E.L.D. went all Westworld this week as LMD-May became fully aware of what she is and isn’t. Thanks to Radcliffe’s programming, she’s unable to tell the team the truth because she doesn’t want to. The real May isn’t fooled by the simulation she’s placed in. Seriously, facials and massages? Ain’t nobody got time for that. Radcliffe advises Aida to develop something a bit more May’s speed. So now May is in an endless loop of trying to escape, getting closer and closer to freedom each time.
Meanwhile, Daisy prepares to sign the Sokovia Accords, but first she has to stand before a senate committee with none other than Senator Nadeer putting on the heat. While Daisy takes the grilling, Coulson and YoYo search Nadeer’s office, but are caught red-handed. Nadeer was tipped off, and now S.H.I.E.L.D. looks like a government agency gone rogue… again.
So, who’s the mole? Fitz figures out it’s Radcliffe, but bringing him in only reveals May isn’t the only LMD in their midst. The real Radcliffe, Aida, and May are now aligned with Nadeer. Grade: A
Colony - S2E3 - “Sublimation” | Thursdays at 10pm | USA Network
Katie hasn’t always been the most sympathetic character, but this week’s episode went a long way in putting her situation in perspective. With Lindsey under pressure from her boss, she continues to push Katie for a lead on Broussard. Katie is smart enough to know they’ll be bringing her in if she doesn’t deliver so she prepares herself from being separated, yet again, from her family; this time, Gracie. She knows Gracie is being indoctrinated, but what can she do? The best she can hope for is to teach her daughter that she has options and that there are many religions to choose from. She advises her daughter to research and do what she thinks is right - such a tall order for a such a small child. It’s Katie’s best play considering she knows Gracie’s best chance to survive is with her sister, Maddie, who herself has settled into the new world order.
Thankfully, before she can drop Gracie off and turn herself in, Will returns with Charlie. Devon wasn’t so lucky. They were caught scaling the wall and one of the drones quickly and violently turned her into fluids dripping from a rope. Grade: B-
