We’re already getting word on how season 4 of Game of Thrones is shaping up. HBO has announced that Chilean actor Pedro Pascal (The Good Wife, The Adjustment Bureau) will play Prince Oberyn Martell of Dorne. Oberyn is the brother of Elia, who was slain when the Lannisters stormed Kings Landing during Robert Baratheon’s rebellion.
Gregor Clegane a.k.a. The Mountain That Rides, was among the first of the Lannister men to scale Meaghor’s Holdfast. He murdered Prince Aegon, infant son to Elia and Prince Rheagar Targaryen, by slamming the child into the nursery wall. Then he raped and murdered Elia, with the infant’s brains and blood still on his hands.
Sooooo, it’s safe to say that Prince Oberyn Martell’s arrival in Kings Landing will not be without excitement. They don’t call him The Red Viper for nothing.
Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss had this to say about the casting. “This was a tough one. The Red Viper is sexy and charming, yet believably dangerous; intensely likable, yet driven by hate. The boys love him, the girls love him, and he loves them all back. Unless your last name is Lannister. We found a fellow who can handle the job description and make it seem effortless. He wasn’t easy to find and he won’t be easy to stop.”
What do you think of this choice to play Oberyn Martell?

I pictured either the guy who played on Sayid on LOST or Oded Fehr, but he will do.
