I don’t get to read comics the way that I want to anymore. With the price of comics having gone up to prices that rival used dvds, I mean I just don’t get paid enough anymore to keep up with the latest stories.
A few years ago when I started buying some used comics to pass the time, I came across the series from DC called 52. This was an incredible story. Fifty two issues that were released once a week and take place between Infinite Crisis and One Year Later.
What I enjoyed most was that it was various stories from characters that I never paid much attention to. I never knew anything about The Question, Booster Gold, or Animal Man.
The writers for the series are fantastic. Aside from Geoff Johns, I don’t think that I had read anything by the others; Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, Mark Waid, or Keith Giffen.
I keep my eyes out for any of these writers based solely on this series. I highly recommend it. It was such a joy for me to read that I consumed all 52 issues in a weekend. This is a definite MUST READ in my book!
What is your favorite comic storyline? It can be from DC, Marvel, Image, IDW…Hell, it could be a one-shot from Chaos if you like. I don’t judge what you like. If it is a comic book story, I’ll give it a shot.
