From the very beginning, Alana, Marko, and Hazel have been hunted and wanted; their pursuers each with their own agendas. Just when it seems they’ve found a small measure of peace — as much as one can find peace while on the run — more is asked of them. Their travel mates (and fellow outlaws), investigative journalists Upsher and Doff, want to tell their story in exchange for a new life and new identities. If the world(s) knew about their relationship and child, maybe the fighting would stop. They see the family as a chance for hope, and any journalistic kudos they’d receive for breaking the story would just be gravy.

But Alana and Marko are unwilling to have Hazel disguise herself. They don’t give a damn about the war; they just want to be left alone.

It’s hard to tell how genuine their desire to help is considering how much Upsher and Doff stand to gain from such a story. What’s even more perplexing is trying to make sense of the offer Prince Robot IV makes by issue’s end.

His sexual relationship with Petrichor is going strong, but it appears he has (as the kids say) caught feelings. Whether or not she returns those feelings is irrelevant. She believes their relationship wouldn’t be accepted so they should enjoy what they currently have.

When PRIV overhears Marko and Alana turn down the journalists’ offer, he decides to barter the same deal with information he retrieved about what really happened to Phang. And though he says he wants to start a new life, in disguise, his screen conveys a different message.

Oh, and Ianthe is still dragging poor naked The Will along on her quest for revenge and riches. The 50th issue should be intense.
