America #4

Previously, in America #3

All of the lessons America has learned in the prior issues pay off when she travels back in time to her initial encounter with the destructive being on Maltixa. She’s able to convince herself there’s a better way, and together with her past self they’re able to trap the being — this ensures it won’t return to terrorize the Maltixians.

It’s a beautiful moment that mirrors America’s own mothers who sacrificed themselves to create a seal to protect their secret, parallel universe. Her reunion with Lisa is bittersweet as the two decide their split up was for the best after all. And she manages to regain the respect and admiration of her fan club.

The biggest discovery at the end of his this arc is one America seems to want no parts of: she meets the woman who has been guided, Madrimar. And though she claims to have a connection to America’s mothers, America isn’t ready for whatever it is Madrimar wants from her. Hopefully, we’ll get to that in the next arc.
