BluTuesday - April 24, 2018

What’s going on, ProFans? I’m taking a break from recuperating from tech week and show runs to bring you the latest releases to home media for April 24, 2018. In this week’s episode, we discuss the world’s worst maze, a cuddly bear, and more family drama. Let’s get started.

Maze Runner: The Death Cure (PG-13)
Metascore: 51

The Maze Runner trilogy meets its epic fine in this thriller based on the young adult novel series of the same name. Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) leads his group of Gladers on an ambush of the legendary last city - the final labyrinth WCKD controls. At the end of the maze are answers to all the questions they’ve had since the very beginning. But, will Ava Paige (Patricia Clarkson) let them live long enough to have those questions answered? This film, which also stars Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Rosa Salazar, and Ki Hong Lee, is available in a two disc 4K UltraHD/Blu-ray + Digital HD version, a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital HD version, and a single disc DVD version. You’ve got questions? They’ve got answers. Just…don’t think too hard about them, though; go along for the ride, and you’ll be fine.

Paddington 2 (PG)
Metascore: 88

Paddington Brown (Ben Whishaw) is back with his marmalade sandwiches and ready for adventure. When Paddington finds a pop-up book he wants to get for his Aunt Lucy’s (Imelda Staunton) hundredth birthday, he starts doing odd jobs in order to afford it. However, when that book ends up stolen, Paddington and the Brown family set out to find the thief. This film, which also stars Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, and Hugh Grant, is available in a two disc 4K UltraHD/Blu-ray + Digital HD version, a two disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital HD version, and a single disc DVD version. This is an adorable family film with lots of laughs and lots of heart. Plus, it makes you kinda like Imelda Staunton again, and that’s a win.

Shameless: The Complete Eighth Season
Metascore: N/A

The eighth season of this very long-running Showtime dramedy finds the Gallagher family on the upswing. Frank (William H. Macy) is bound and determined to become a productive member of society, Fiona (Emmy Rossum) is finding out how difficult it is to be a landlord, Lip (Jeremy Allen White) is struggling with sobriety, and Ian (Cameron Monaghan) is trying his best to win back Trevor (Elliot Fletcher). All in all, a normal day at the Gallaghers. This series, which also stars Ethan Cutkosky, Shanola Hampton, and Emma Kenney, is available in a single disc Blu-ray version and a three disc DVD version. No matter how harebrained this show seems to get, they’re going to let it ride. So, g’head and keep the party goin’.

That’s all I’ve got for this week. Got any questions or comments? Did I miss something you wanted to discuss? Feel free to hit me up in the comments section below.

Until next time…
