Gotham Descends on Comicpalooza 2015
The annual comic convention Comicpalooza takes over Houston this weekend, May 22-25, and the event has shined its bat signal high into the Texas sky to bring several stars from Fox’s hit Batman prequel series, Gotham, to the lone star state. Project Fandom will be there to help flip the switch, as we cover this year’s convention.
Beginning in 2008, this will be the eighth time Houston has hosted the annual Comicpalooza. Originally organized by John Simons as a way to showcase local comic talent, the event has since grown to be one of the largest multi-genre conventions in the country; as they say “Everything is bigger in Texas”, and that includes comic conventions.
All the way back at that first Comicpalooza, the event was intentionally organized to coincide with the theatrical release of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. It’s only fitting, with the Batman franchise enjoying success on television with its first live-action series since the poorly received Birds of Prey, that headlining this year’s convention will be a large portion of the cast from Fox’s Gotham: Donal Logue (Harvey Bullock), Camren Bicondova (Selina Kyle), Sean Pertwee (Alfred Pennyworth), Cory Michael Smith (Edward Nygma), and Cameron Monaghan (Jerome Valeska) will all be appearing at the convention on both Saturday and Sunday.
Marvel fans need not worry, however. Also appearing at varying times throughout the weekend will be Jeremy Renner, Hayley Atwell, Cobie Smulders, Rosario Dawson, and Chloe Bennet, as well as the inimitable Stan “The Man” Lee.
Among the other 250+ other guests appearing at the convention are David Anders, Kevin Eastman, Peter Mayhew, George Takei, Henry Winkler, Laurie Holden, and Peter David. Check the convention’s official guest list to see all guests scheduled to attend Comicpalooza 2015. While you’re on the Comicpalooza site, be sure to pick up your tickets, so you can join us as we attend this year’s convention. If you can’t be there with us, don’t worry; our contributor Anton will have all of our coverage of the event right here on Project Fandom.
