Geek Engagement Photos

First comes the proposal, then comes the engagement ring, and then comes… the engagement photos. I actually didn’t know that was a thing but apparently it’s a thing. I’m not sure I want to participate in engagement photos myself… Unless of course they include one of our heads stuck up inside a dinosaurs mouth. Or Ozzy biting my head off.  Otherwise, the poses always look staged and unnatural and the guy always looks like he’s dying a little on the inside. “Honey, let’s take a picture of us making out and then send it to all our friends and family.” No thanks.

These people had the right idea though, turning something kind of lame and cheesy into something pretty awesome, so I will acknowledge that engagement photos are a thing.

Young couple, Ace and Karla, wanted their engagement photos to reflect their love of geeky movies, but couldn’t decide which one. So, they went with all of their favorites. There’s Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland, and more. It’s pretty amazing. You can check out the rest at the website of the photographer Jerry Santiago.

Laurie and Justin from Greenville, SC decided to do a pretty hardcore Doctor Who themed photo shoot. He totally looks like he could play the Doctor! You can see lots more at the photographer’s website. There’s even a sonic screwdriver! They didn’t mess around.

This couple chose to remain nameless, though I would too if I was secretly Darth Maul and Obi Wan Kenobi! The couple spent an afternoon of picture taking in costume in the woods for their engagement photos. I want to be friends with this couple. There are no words I can find that are better than just looking at the pictures.

Indiana Jones fans David and Erin dressed as Indiana Jones and Lara Croft for an engagement photoshoot shot in Disneyland by Diana Rush Photography. You can view the rest of the photos here.

On top of their regular engagement photos, couple Jess and Chad added on a few Charlie Chaplin inspired pictures. I love photos from that era so these are pretty cool. Check out there rest at the photographer’s website.

Alexandra and Chris had their wedding shoot down by Hungarian photogragher Laszlo Bodnar. Since the couple were big horror movie fans, they decided to a horror-themed engagement shoot laid out in the form of a comic. Pretty cool. You can see the rest of the photos here.

Justin and Kelly of Canada did a Game of Thrones themed engagement photo shoot, shot by Nordica Photography. They even made the outfits themselves and they’re very impressive. There’s a lot I don’t know about Game of Thrones so I’ll just let the rest of the photos speak for themselves.

There’s not a whole lot that can top that last engagement shoot, so I’ll leave it at that. Come back next month when I discuss the next step in geek love!

About Patti Matteucci (265 Articles)
Patti Matteucci plays in an imaginary band in Illinois where she rocks the mic like a vandal while simultaneously cooking MCs like a pound of bacon. She is into most nerdy things but doesn’t excel enough in any to be labeled a nerd. One of her top skillz is scouring the internet for recipes, printing out a big pile, and then throwing them away before ever trying them when she remembers that you can have food made and delivered to your front door by somebody else. She is a 14 year old trapped inside a 33 year old’s body (or maybe also a 14 year old’s body) with an unabashed love for Justin Bieber and far too much time spent marrying celebrities in Sims 3.
