Legion – S2E5 – Chapter 13

Editor’s note: There was no review for last week’s episode of Legion in order to honor the national holiday that was Infinity War weekend.

This episode was rough. After finally reaching Syd within her maze, and successfully drawing her out during the longest cold open in television history, David was shocked to see that Division 3 had captured Lenny in his absence.

Of course, no one trusted that the chatty woman sitting in the interrogation room was actually Lenny – and for good reason. She got the Han Solo Empire treatment in the series premiere. What everyone encountered since then was The Shadow King using her body. Until now.

With no memory of how she got away from Farouk and no idea how he was able to put her back in her original body, Lenny insists that she’s old self again – even if her eyes are now blue when they were brown her entire life. She also warns that Farouk has found his body in the desert so maybe they should all be focusing on that instead of interrogating her. The only person she has a real desire to speak with is David, but that isn’t going to happen until they know for sure who she is and why she’s there.

Through her interrogation by Clark, we learn of Lenny’s tumultuous (given vodka regularly by her grandmother when she was just nine) and neglected (her father watched porn more than he went to work) childhood. When she meets with Ptonomy, he notes that her eyes in her old body were brown, but now they’re blue.

Whose body is it? Was it?

The answer finally comes with David sits down with Lenny and he catches glimpses of his own childhood when he reads her mind. Lenny thought Farouk had found his body in the desert, but really he and Oliver dug up her body, which was buried there after she died in Clockworks.

Then they went to the house in the desert where David’s sister Amy has been living under guard by Division 3. After killing her husband and the guards, Farouk kills Amy and revives her body as Lenny’s. When David realizes this, he vows to come for Farouk… which is most likely what he wanted all along.
