PF’s Book Club Podcast: Rat Queens, Vol.1: Sass and Sorcery

The Rat Queens are a group of badass adventurers protecting - but mostly causing trouble in - Palisade. When the mayor tasks them (and other adventurers) with quests to make amends, the Rat Queens find they’ve been lured to an assassin instead. In the first volume (containing the first five issues), the Rat Queens must find out who wants them dead and still protect the city from attacking ogres set on revenge.

Listen below as John and Nina discuss the characters (foul-mouthed and brave), the story (RPG meets LARPing), and the art (stellar action panels) in Rat Queens Vol. 1: Sass and Sorcery by Kurtis J. Wiebe.

After the jump, check out our book club selection for June.

In June, we’re reading The Girl with All the Gifts by M.R. Carey.

From Amazon:

NOT EVERY GIFT IS A BLESSING.

Melanie is a very special girl. Dr Caldwell calls her “our little genius.”

Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don’t like her. She jokes that she won’t bite, but they don’t laugh.
The Girl With All the Gifts is a groundbreaking thriller, emotionally charged and gripping from beginning to end.
