The CW Cancels 3 Shows, Renews Others, & Pulls Plug on Supernatural Spinoff

The end has come for three CW shows, the network announced today. The Tomorrow People, Star-Crossed, and the Sex and the City prequel, The Carrie Diaries, will not be returning this fall. The network’s most popular shows: The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, and Arrow have already been renewed. Hart of Dixie and Beauty and the Beast are also returning despite not-so-great ratings. And newbie, The 100, has been given a second season. The highly anticipated, but poorly received, Supernatural spinoff Bloodlines is no longer happening, but the network hasn’t ruled out another spin-off in the future.

Four new shows premiering this fall include:

  • iZombie - A young zombie attends med school and works in the coroner’s office where she has access to fresh brains. When she eats them, she absorbs the memories of the people she’s eaten and uses that knowledge to solve crimes. I’m not making that up. Since it’s from the creator of Veronica Mars, I’ll give it a chance.
  • The Messengers - When a mysterious object crash lands on Earth it kills a few people who return from the dead to try and stop the apocalypse.
  • The Flash - The Arrow spin-off starring Grant Gustin.
  • Jane the Virgin - A religious young woman is accidentally artificially inseminated. Again, not making this up.

  1. Jane. The Virgin.
    Good grief.

  2. Izombie….that sounds like a dumber version of Warm Bodies. Why did they keep beauty & the beast and hart of Dixie?! Horrible shows.
