Twin Peaks: The Return - Part 3

Previously on Twin Peaks, “Part 2”

This may be the easiest episode to follow thus far. Maybe.

Three Coopers

Dale Cooper falls through space and ends up in a strange room with a woman with no eyes. As something pounds on the door, she leads Cooper out of the room and up a ladder. They’re in space in some kind of capsule. She’s electrocuted, falls, but ends up back in the same room with Cooper; this time she has eyes. She encourages him to go before her mother breaks in.

BobCooper is driving down the highway as Dale Cooper is transported through a wall socket into the real world. When this happens, BobCooper runs off the road and begins to vomit violently.

In an empty house for sale, another Cooper doppelgänger named Dougie has just finished having sex with a prostitute named Jade. When she goes to take a shower, the wall outlet begins to emit the same sound BobCooper heard coming from the cigarette lighter in his car. Dougie vomits and is sucked into the socket while Dale Cooper is deposited in his place. When Jade comes out of the shower, she assumes Dougie changed his clothes and took out his hair plugs and that’s why he looks different. She’s not too bright, that one; but I doubt anyone could guess what really happened. “Dougie” doesn’t have his car keys, so Jade realizes she has to give him another ride.

As they pull out of the subdivision, a man prepares to shoot “Dougie” as the car goes by, but since Cooper leaned down to pick up the room key (The Great Northern Lodge) he dropped, the shooter thinks Jade is alone in the car. He radios his friend who’s parked outside the empty house. They assume Dougie is still inside so the friend puts a bomb under Dougie’s car. In the house across the street, a drugged out woman yells, “1-1-9” while a small boy looks out the window.

In the Black Lodge, Dougie meets the One-Armed Man who tells him that he was manufactured for a purpose, but that has since been fulfilled. Dougie melts away, leaving behind only his ring, and the One-Armed Man puts the ring on a table. Poor Dougie.

Jade drops Cooper off at a casino with five dollars and instructions to call for help and lose her number. Cooper, who is acting like a child who’s never left the house, uses the money to gamble. He follows a light that has the markings of the floor and curtains in The Red Room, and every slot machine it lands on pays out huge money for Cooper. Meanwhile, cops find BobCooper’s car and one throws up when he looks inside.

Twin Peaks

Dr. Jacoby spray paints his shovels gold.

Hawk, Andy, and Lucy go over the case file, trying to find what’s missing. Lucy admits to eating a chocolate bunny from a package in evidence, and wonders if that’s what’s missing. Hawk doesn’t think so, but then he kinda does.

Hey, stranger things have happened.

The FBI

Deputy Director Gordon Cole (David Lynch) holds a briefing regarding a man charged with murdering his wife and the clues he left behind. Alone with Agent Albert Rosenfeld (Miguel Ferrer) and Agent Tamara Preston (Chrysta Bell), he listens as Preston fills them in on the glass case in New York. They have the gory pictures of Sam’s and Tracey’s corpses and a grainy photo of the figure that killed them. They have no idea who owns the building or who worked there. Then, Cole gets a call that Agent Cooper has been found in South Dakota. He informs them they’re all taking a trip.

Pathetic Predictions

I’m assuming the men trying to kill Dougie are the friends BobCooper asked his girlfriend (the one he didn’t kill) to contact for a job he needed done.

3 Questions

How long before Agent Cooper remembers who he is and starts acting like a real live boy?

Will BobCooper realize who and what he is when the FBI arrives? Or was he affected the same way Dale Cooper was?

What the fuck is going on with those shovels?
